Depression is a medical illness that affects the way you feel about yourself and your surroundings. It surrounds the person in a pool of sadness and isolation where they stop enjoying everything they once used to and notice a change in the sleeping pattern, appetite and weight. Loss of energy and fatigue are commonly experienced by a person in depression and in extreme cases the person might also develop suicidal tendencies. One of the main reasons of depression is a closed mind set whereby the individual develops negative perspective towards everything.
Having an open mindsets opens up the possibility of change and one tries to experiment new things and take advantage of new possibilities which might improve the quality of life. Having a closed mindset leads to nowhere and keeps the person stuck on the same old ways further taking one into the pool of sadness. A closed mindset makes it impossible for you to change and does not let you experiment new things and new ways of life.
People with closed mindsets support only their viewpoint and are concerned only about self-image and how to become superior as a result of which one is left isolated and the feeling of depression crops up. Further such people face the challenges in a very pessimistic way. Instead of seeing any challenge as an opportunity to learn, they tend to question themselves about- what if I didn’t succeed, people will laugh at me if I will fail, should I drop this challenge and save my dignity, I should back out etc. and such interrogation brings sadness and depression.
A person with open mindset on the other hand welcomes all challenges and instead of thinking about whether I will win or lose, they think about what they will learn from such a challenge and how it will help them succeed further in their life. How you interpret criticism is completely your choice and totally depends on your mindset. If you determine to take it positively then you will succeed and if you take it negatively then it will just bring in disappointment.
