During her teenage years, her mother’s 10-year battle with multiple sclerosis took a toll on her family. She lost her mother when she was 25. Her marriage lasted for only 13 months. She was a single mother when she was raising her kids in absolute poverty and used to live on government welfare. Her work, which later broke many world records, was rejected 12 times. Today she is one of the richest women on earth. Can you guess the name of this personality?
She is J K Rowling, the creator of Harry Potter! There are many such real life inspirations around us that remind us about the need to create a strong foundation for our youngsters.
Each one of us should take inspiration from such people and build resilience in our children. Being ambitious is very important in life because then only a person can strive towards achievement of goals and objectives. But the life of ambitious people is not smooth, rather it is full of challenges that one needs to encounter and pass through to become successful. As Bill Bradley, the famous American author, former professional basketball player and politician has said “Ambition is the path to success and persistence is the vehicle you arrive in”.
Ups and downs will always come in the way of success but one should never view them as a disadvantage rather you should always understand that these challenges will make you overcome adversities in life and make you a strong champion. The only requirement is positive attitude and consistency in your efforts which will eventually help you in overcoming all the problems.
Children need to be taught to view these challenges positively and strive to come out better and stronger with each challenge. Resilience is the quality which enables the child to come back stronger with each difficulty instead of being knocked down by them. Positive attitude, optimism, emotional regularity and strength are what makes a person resilient. Being ethical on the other hand enables a person to maintain their character and moral values during the time of adversity.
There is a famous quote by Napolean Bonaparte:
“Great ambition is the passion of great character. Those endowed with it may perform very good or very bad acts. All depends on the principles which direct them”
Therefore it is necessarily important for the teachers and parents to develop ethical values in the children so that they don’t sacrifice on their principles while facing life’s unexpected challenges. By adopting Saral Education, we can effectively guide youngsters in such tough situations.
Don’t handicap children by making their lives too easy. Every hardship should be a means to achieve something bigger and better. No great personality has ever achieved success without hardships. The common thread in all was their self-awareness, ability to take failures positively and rise again.
