Have you ever noticed, that when your energy and thoughts are focussed towards the task at hand, it is not only completed at a rapid rate but also, efficiently and with fewer mistakes? Doesn’t this make us feel better at what we accomplished and make us more confident? So, what is this process of focusing on our energy at towards one goal at a time, how does it play such a major role in increasing efficiency and how do we further develop these skills? It is a well-known and powerful tool that we all have heard being used often:
Concentration. This life skill is a requirement or needs that allows us to ensure that our energies are converging at one point, i.e., focussing on one task, without being distracted. It involves, in essence, the act of bringing our mind to a single fixed point and maintaining it there until the task is completed. It may seem like a monumental task to concentrate on one thing for a given period of time, but it is imperative to understand that by concentrating, we can not only achieve more in a smaller amount of time but also develop and nurture this formidable ability.
Concentration can be useful in all phases of our lives, right from studying for examinations, preparing for interviews or even in writing articles. It allows us to control our mind, our thoughts, reduce negativity and excel at all we put our minds to. How many times have we heard or said, “I cannot concentrate,” and how many times have we tried to search for ways to improve our concentration?
This clearly elucidates that we understand its importance and strive to foster this ability by reading articles, experiences, and techniques of others and obtaining tips as well. There exist many tools and tricks to maintain and expand the power of concentration, ranging from exercises to meditation. These techniques work differently from individual to individual and there is ample evidence to show the positive effects of these concentration-enhancing techniques.
The easiest way to start honing this powerful life skill is by observing our breath and trying to focus on the movement of our body in response to just breathing, a tool widely used in yoga, known as Pranayama. Other simple steps can include planning our day beforehand, breaking up larger goals into smaller objectives or tasks, keeping time aside to allow the mind to relax, taking regular breaks to replenish our body and ensuring that we are as stress-free as possible. A combination of a few or all of the above techniques would guarantee that our levels of concentration get enhanced and stronger, each time that we try to develop it.
Our environment and our own state of mind play a major role in our competence and productivity and it is obvious that when our mind is plagued by negative thoughts, we find it hard to concentrate. A unique and effective way to ward off these disruptions is by involving ourselves in positive environments, positive thoughts, and positive energies, by utilizing and employing the practice of “Direction, Structure, Energy and Chakra Sciences”.
